I’m a 22-year-old indie author from India. I lost my dad young, and turned that grief into a political thriller. Here’s my story.

There’s a certain kind of writer who doesn’t wait for the right moment. Who doesn’t ask for permission. Who picks up their story — the painful one, the real one — and just writes it.

I’m A. K. Khainal (Akshit Khainal), born 26 September 2003 in New Delhi, India. And that’s exactly what I did.

At 22, I published my debut political thriller — This Is For You, Dad — a story about a young woman named Kiara Verma who uncovers the truth behind her father’s mysterious death and sets out for justice.

It sounds like fiction. But the grief behind it is very real.

I lost my father at a young age. That loss didn’t just hurt — it rewired me. It forced emotional maturity I hadn’t asked for. It changed how I saw relationships, responsibility, and every story worth telling.

Writing wasn’t a career choice. It became a necessity.

The process wasn’t clean either — multiple rewrites, long phases of self-doubt, moments where quitting felt like the rational option. But I kept going.

I’m not here to wait for validation. I’m here to build something honest.
